3 Sure fire ways to run an effective Google Adwords Campaign

3 Sure fire ways to run an effective Google Adwords Campaign

Google has done a great job with allowing businesses to launch online advertisements throughout the internet.  They have created a consumer friendly interface that allows easy explanation of creating a campaign.  Google also provides several how to tutorials in creating and launching the paid search advertisements.  What many beginner Google Adwords users are not aware of is breezing through the setup can in fact cost you more money down the road.  A company’s Cost per Click (CPC) is measured by the overall campaign quality score.  The higher the quality score, the lower the Cost per Click.  What does this transpire to mean?  Setting your Google Campaign up correctly will save you money each and every click.

Quality Score factors:
There are 3 major factors in determining a Google Adwords Campaign quality score:

  • Click Through Rate
  • Google Advertisement copy
  • Website content

The click through rate is the amount of times your ad was shown divided by the amount of clicks the ad received.  For example your ad for computer repair was shown to 100 people during the course of the day.  Of those 100 people that viewed your online advertisement, 25 clicked the advertisement and entered your website.  Therefore your click through rate would be 25%.

The second important factor to running a highly effective Google Adwords campaign is the creation of advertisement copy.  This is one of the most important factors because you want to have an eye catching ad to make people enter your website however at the same time you want to defer people who are not interested in what you are selling.  Using the computer repair example again, if someone uses Google to search for computers, you want your ad to steer away anyone looking for a new computer.  It is a wasted click and wasted money.  In regards to receiving a high quality score, you want your advertisement to include a keyword from your campaign.

The third factor in determining your quality score is to review the content on your website.  Whenever a Google Adwords campaign is launched, Google has a team that reviews the campaign and website content to come up with a quality score.  If your web content does not match up well with your keywords and your advertisements, you will receive a low quality score.  What this means is you will be paying more for keywords that your competitors are paying less for.  Google does this to make sure that their users are returned with content that is relevant.    If a user is searching for computer repair and all the Google Adwords results are for new TVs, then the user will be disappointed in the Search Engine.  By keeping information relevant to search, users will return to the search engine for use.

Google Adwords is not an impossible feat to use.  Plan out your campaigns, write effective ads, and make sure your website content is relevant.
